Breaking the curse of poverty
Bible Reading: 1 Chronicle 4:9-10
“And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez saying because I bare him with sorrow.
And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me, indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”
Unfortunately, many children of God are under the curse of poverty, and they are bearing Christians names, going to fellowship even participating in fasting and prayers and other related activities in the church. Living under the curse of poverty has nothing to do with your age, tribe, language or status.
A curse of poverty is a curse that has killed many businesses while many people are living abject poverty. Breaking the curse of poverty is a prayer of deliverance for everyone under the bondage of poverty. Many are working as an elephant but eating like a rat.
Jabez was ordained and set apart from his mother’s womb to be great and lives a prosperous life, but he inherited a curse of poverty when his mother gave birth to him. Jabez’ mother cursed him as a result of the circumstance and situation during his birth, and he was a curse with sorrow. What a terrible incident from a mother to his son!
“…and his mother called his name Jabez saying because I bare him with sorrow.” 1 Chronicle 4:9b
Jabez grow with the curse of poverty until he realized that he was not born to this world to be poor, rather he exists to be prosperous and a blessing to others. He discovered that he was under a curse of poverty and there is a need for him to be delivered.
“And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me, indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.” 1 Chronicle 4:10
